It begins with a single box on the corner. Then a second. Then in some way your living room has grown its own zip code and you can no longer locate the remote without a search party. Sound familiar? You’re not alone. And small mini storage units is just what this is.

A mini storage unit is a rented, locker room – yours to go to any time you please, charged on a monthly basis, no strings attached. Sizes vary wildly. There are even units that are smaller than a wardrobe. Others can gulp a house of furniture three bedrooms without even batting an eyelid. Whatever you have to do with, there is almost always a size to fit.
The things that people keep tell an all too honest tale about the life in the modern world. Use of camping gear twice a year. Furniture of an old affair that no one would like to dispose of, but certainly cannot see every day. Items of kids of six-month phases. Stock in business that has no other way to go. Mini storage takes it all in – without a murmur or a question.
The most assumptions are wrong in cost. Individuals prepare to pay a high price when they are shocked to discover that a decent sized unit is about the amount they would pay a couple of restaurant meals a month. At that rate, you will be gaining real usable space within your house. Rooms begin to work as rooms. It is somewhat of an eye-opener.
The decision on the appropriate unit size is the most confusing. Going too small implies that you have an impossible puzzle each time you come. Going too big, is paying to air. The solution is simple, enumerate all that you want to store, record the size of large objects and compare them with the size guide of the facility before committing.
After you have the space, stuff it up with discipline. Name each and every box, including the ones that are so clear at the moment. They will not be so conspicuous in eight months at 7pm when you are in a rush. Place the heaviest objects on the floor, the lightest objects on the top and cut out a walking path so that you are not breaking down the entire unit to get one object that is at the back.
Climate controlled units are a bit more expensive. Pay it no matter what you are storing that is wood, electronic, or something truly invaluable. Heat and humidity are slow and quiet – and they do not give refunds.
Check security: Signing beforehand. Access to gates, lighting, personal alarms. A padlock alone isn’t a security system.
Mini storage will not solve the root problem. But it allows you space, physically, to breathe as you work out that aspect.
